We all want to travel a thousand or ten thousand miles away to get the perfect photograph because there just are not any good photographs in our neighborhoods. So, the thinking goes anyway. If only I was in Germany, or Japan or maybe Australia, or some far off land..there I would find the perfect photo opportunities.
Here is a project for you…if you want to go out and take some good photographs…or if you just want to take a short drive and observe what is around your home.
A photographer friend of mine said that he took a map, drew a circle five miles from his home and then traveled that area to see what photograph possibilities existed. He said he was amazed at what he found.
Do that on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon…just take a drive around your area and take a look at everything as if you were a visitor there for the first time. Many of the things that we take for granted every day we really do not look at….or see in the realm of a really good photograph.
It opens your eyes to all possibilities.
