Beal Street in Memphis is the home of the blues. I captured this photo on Beal Street in Memphis last fall while wrapping up the shooting of the Mississippi River project. This musician was on Beal Street in a one location the night before, but when we went down there the next day he had moved a cross the street. He might know something about traffic patterns, I don’t know.
Anyway, this was one of five photographs I took of him and I considered this one best. He was putting a lot of “omph” into the music when I captured this scene. That “thing” in front of him is metal bowl to throw in your contributions.
You might ask why Memphis was the last spot on my Mississippi River journey when it is in the heartland of the country….well, it was the only segment along with Vicksburg and Natchez that I had not captured. We hit different segments of the river at different times during the past three years.
I am showing the scene in black & white and also in color. Pick your favorite.

Frank;
This is outstanding. They are both terrific, but there is just something special about black and white.You bring out the sharpness of the scene.
