The photo of the week takes us to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Music is everywhere there. This street musician was a member of a trio playing outside Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter. It is one of several shots I took of him and other members of the group playing for the entertainment of the people in the cafe who were eating the powered sugared French beignets and drinking the special coffee blended with chicory. I get hungry just thinking about the beignets again. It was a cloudy day and this scene says it all. Can you hear him playing, “When the Saints Come Marching in?” He was, when this photograph was taken.

Award winning photographer, Franklin (Frank) Brueske, is originally from Southeastern Minnesota. He became interested in photography while in elementary school and purchased his first camera from a rural community drug store when he was is the sixth grade. It took 127 film, was fixed focus, but had sun and cloud adjustments. He still has that camera today. More about Frank
