It’s Not The Camera, it’s The Person

When you see a photograph that you really like, you might say, “Wow, I wonder what kind of a great   camera that person owns.” Well, believe it or not, it’s not  so much the camera as it is the person behind the camera. Creative people can take very good photographs with a cheap camera just as well as they can with a real expensive one.

In these days you can get a throw-a way-camera at the drug store for $7.9 or less, or you can spend thousands for a top notch digital one, but it’s what you see from behind the camera that really counts.

Don’t be discouraged if you have a cheaper camera.  Many of them will take nearly as good photographs as the ones costing a thousand dollars or more.  If you are taking photos only for the family use, the cheapers ones are just great. I have even seen some very good photographs taken with a pin hole camera…that’s a camera without a lens.

However, Do not be rushed to take the picture unless you feel the moment if fleeing and it will never return. Otherwise be sure you have the right angle you want, the correct lighting….and the right exposure. If it is a throw-away-camera, all you need to do is to aim and “shoot” so they say.

A helpful hint here, when snapping the shutter ..or pushing the button for the shutter…just squeeze it gently so that you are not jerking the camera as you take the photograph.

I remember one person in a class who was so dishearten because all of his photos were coming out slightly blurred regardless how he focused the camera…or the different shutter speeds he was using. The solution to his problem..was to watch him as he took a picture.  He pushed the shutter hard when he took the photo and you could see the camera move when he did it. By gently squeezing the shutter he solved his problem.

If you love photographing people, flowers, or wildlife, you never have to look too far for a subject. The true challenge is to create an image with real impact and in focus. Spring is just around the corner.
