Pensacola Air Show

The Photo(s) of The Week concentrate on the recent Pensacola Blue Angels Air Show. While their stuff is neat I concentrated on other things as well..as you can see. The first photo is of three old Russian planes flying above the crowd. The second is a photograph of part of the crowd in the bleachers ahead of where I was sitting in the free area. The third is of the Blue Angels. They are fast moving fantastic aerobatic team…probably the best in the word.  Their fast moving flying is difficult to follow with a camera. It was a fun event to attend. Share this:...

Natchez Double Bridge

The Photo of the Week this week is a view from the ground up of the double bridge that crosses the Mississippi River from Mississippi to Louisiana. It is a double bridge with traffic on both bridges, rather than one being a car bridge and the other a railroad bridge. This photograph in black & white is rather striking from the low angle while a color verison is on so-and-so. The street light in the middle gives an added emphasis to the low angle. Photograph taken in September, 2010, on a very cloudy morning. Share this:...

Autumn Leaves

Autumn in most parts of the country is a beautiful season. Here in the Florida Panhandle autumn means that the hot temperatures of the summer are mostly passed. Although most of my photography is black and white, I have in the past taken a few color shots. This one in The Photo of The Week is a scene of a mother and her child walking down a back road surrounded by autumn colors. Date taken?? Mid 60′s..where?? in Minnesota. Share this:...

Around The Corner

Around The Corner

When you are driving the back roads you never know where the next neat  photo opportunity may arise. This Photo of The Week was not planned. ( See Creative Photography Blog “You Never Know What is Around The Next Corner.) This neat old court house is in Port Gibson, MS just of highway 61. It was late in the afternoon in September and the side lighting of the building provides a dramatic shading on the front of the building so that the detail is not washed out. I am not sure who the statue is, but it provides added depth to the scene as do the autumn leaves. I would admit that I like the...

Bayou Chico Boat Harbor

Bayou Chico Boat Harbor

The Photo of The Week captures a scene of sail boats at harbor at Pensacola’s Bayou Chico. The clouds in the  darkened sky make the scene come alive. Without the clouds it would have been a ho-hum scene. Clouds always add interest. The white sailboats compliment the whiteness of the clouds. The railing on the left and the close boat on the right provide a depth into the harbor itself. You would like to jump off the dock and swim out to your boat and go sailing in the gulf. A color photograph of this same scene is nice, but not as dramatic as the black and white one. Lazy Day By The River

Lazy Day By The River

What could be more relaxing than a lazy autumn day along the river just watching the river flow by..without a care in the world? The autumn scene was captured at Vicksburg, MS along the Mississippi River. The lighting in the scene turns just about everything into a silhouette…the park rail, the bench, the tree and the individual in the as well. It provides a depth to the entire photograph. This scene is duplicated thousands of times along rivers across America, just a lazy autumn day outdoors. This photograph was taken in September, 2010. Share this:...
