You will find fisherman along the river from the very source all the way down to the gulf in boats of all shapes and sizes. This fisherman was waiting for the fish to really take the bait before setting the hook. However, the fish did not cooperate. But it was still a beautiful autumn day [...]

Sign to Everywhere

frankb on October 30th, 2009

This photograph was taken near Rosemary Beach in the Florida Panhandle. You could call it a sign to nowhere or a sign to everywhere. The real problem with this photograph was to get the right lighting on most of the sign arrows so you could read them without losing them in the clouds or in [...]

Song of a Thousand Gates

frankb on October 1st, 2009

This is one of my favorite photos taken around 1965 of a small boy pushing against a large metal gate on a late fall afternoon. The darkness in the foreground and the dark trees in the background provide almost a 3-dimension to the scene. The late afternoon sun turns the autumn leaves into a white [...]

In 1898 Iowa turned out 138,615,696 buttons! This statue along the shores of the [...]

Trees

admin on April 29th, 2009

The early morning sunlight casts a bright glow on the branches of these coastal trees just a short distance away from the gulf shore. The angle of the sun provides striking highlights to the outlines on some of the branches and tree trunks while much of the scene remains in a dark contrasting shadows.
