Bayou LaBatre Shrimp Boats

Bayou LaBatre, the heart of Alabama’s shrimping industry, ws divisasted by Hurricane Katrina in September of 2005. It was one the deadliest storms in the history of the country. Most of the shrimp boats were tossed around like corks on a stormy ocean and sunk, ended up tossed up on shore or were badly damaged. What Makes A Great Photo?

A great photograph is in the eyes of the beholder. What one person likes, another person may not. It is simply personal preference. But the question is…do you know why you like a certain photograph, or a painting too for that matter? You should be taking photographs that you enjoy seeing and sharing with others. Here is a tip to help you. I tell people in my photo classes, to select 20 photos they like from magazines and newspapers-cut them out and place them on a table in front of them as a group. New Orleans Street Art

I begin the new year with a photograph from the end of 2009, the art work of a street artist on the edge of the French Quarter. It was near dusk when this scene was captured and the very brilliant colors in the paintings jump out at you from the dark background of vegetation. There is an empty artist’s chair in the scene because he refused to be included. However, it still made a very exciting black and white photograph.
