Staten Island Ferry

This Photo of the Staten Island (NYC) ferry was discovered while going through some of my old negatives. It  was taken in 1961 and has never been printed before. You can see the wetness and detail in the old wood as the cars drive off the ferry and onto the landing.

This tranquil winter scene was captured after a heavy snowfall in Illinois in January, 2003. The wet snow clung to the branches and everything else. But in a few hours after the sun came out, the scene was totally different.

When you are developing your “eye” for great photographs, be alert for detail. What is detail? It is the “thing” that makes your photographs stand out above others.
